WHRHS Campus Closed 8-18-18
Due to downed utility poles and wires caused by last night's storm, the high school campus is closed today, August 18th, for all events and athletic and co-curricular practices.
Watchung Hills Regional High School has implemented a 1:1 initiative that benefits both teacher and student classroom experiences. This program will help students go beyond the standards of digital citizenship and become creative and problem-solving digital leaders. Students will be able to access information anywhere there is a internet connection at anytime.
The classes of 2021 and 2022 will participate in the 1:1 initiative for the 2018-2019 school year. The class of 2022 will receive a Lenovo 300e Chromebook during the summer of 2018. The Class of 2021 served as a pilot during the 2017-2018 school year and received a Lenovo 14” N42-20 Chromebook.
As these devices are district owned, the district has the ability to manage and maintain these devices. Students will keep the same laptop each year including the summer breaks. Refer to the protection plan section with any concerns/questions in regards to damages and repairs.
Both parents/guardians and students are required to sign/acknowledge the Technology Agreement and 1:1 Acceptable Usage Acknowledgement located in the Genesis portal before any equipment is distributed. If both parties do not sign/acknowledge these forms, both accounts may be restricted to see any other information. Please visit the Parent/Student Portal section of the website for directions.
Due to delays with our Chromebook supplier, we have not received our order of Chromebooks for the class of 2022 (next year's freshman class). We have contacted our supplier throughout the summer on multiple occasions to get an ETA but have been unsuccessful in receiving more detailed delivery information at this time.
As a result of the performance issues of our supplier, we will need to postpone the Chromebook distribution until we have further information about a specific delivery date. Both weeks (August 20th - 24th, 27th - 31st) will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
It is highly recommended to pick up your Chromebook before the start of school. Classes may require students to have their 1:1 device on the first day of school. Based on last name stop by the Media Center on the appropriate day to pick up your Chromebook.
If you are unable to attend during these summer weeks please stop by the IT office located in the Media Center during lunch, study hall, or after school (2:15 pm - 3:30 pm) to pickup your device. Students are not permitted to leave class for technical support issues or transport any technology equipment throughout the school besides 1:1 devices.
