Practice is held daily Monday through Friday from 2:30 -4:45. If practice is going to be canceled there will be an announcement made on google classroom.
Weight room is part of practice. The coaches will be taking attendance while in the weight room. Skipping the weight room will count as an unexcused absence.
If you are not in school you need to email us before 2:00 to inform us that you are sick and not in school. If you do not e-mail Coach Benitez (email@example.com) or Coach Finelle (firstname.lastname@example.org) it will be considered an unexcused absence. If you are a sprinter please cc Coach in the e-mail as well (@whrhs.org)
If you are going to extra help you need to come and check in with your head coach FIRST then go to extra help and return to practice with a pass.
Schedule doctor, dentist and driving appointments after practice.
Attendance is mandatory. If you have an unexcused absence the week of a meet you will not be going to the meet.
If you have more than two unexcused absences you will be asked to leave the team.
If you are absent from school or leave school early please email your head coach so they know ahead of time and we can avoid possible misunderstandings.
If you are in school you must be at practice. Being injured is not a reason to not be at practice. You will not be physically practicing, but you will be doing the activities the trainer or doctor prescribed during that time and assisting your event coach.
"Students must be in attendance for four hours under New Jersey Department of Education regulations in order to be marked present in the attendance register." You must sign in to school before 10:05 am to be eligible to compete in that day's meet.
Track takes preference over other activities! You owe it to your coaches and most importantly, your teammates!
Athletes must ride the bus to and from all away meets. The correct form must be submitted to the Athletic Director's office a day in advance before an athlete can go home with his or her parents. (There is an electronic form available on the Athletic Director's website.)
In order to earn a varsity letter you must:
run, jump or throw the varsity standard listed on the website OR score points for the team in a conference, county or state meet. This includes relay teams.
