2025 Ultimate Coaching Staff                      

Coach Oberleiton                                         

Derek Oberleiton started playing organized Ultimate Frisbee at Rutgers University, where he spent 3 years playing with their development program and sprinkled in some local league appearances. In the fall of 2017, a buddy asked him to return to coach Rutgers B and Derek never looked back. He spent 3 years coaching college dev and joined a men’s club team up through the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021 he transitioned divisions by joining Westfield Highschool and Delaware Valley Youth League (DEVYL). Currently, Derek is affiliated with DEVYL u20 boys, Garden State Ultimate (GSU - amateur adult club), and now Watchung Hills, where he is excited to apply his knowledge and experience. 

Coach Karnas                                               

Coach Karnas has coached both the boys and girls teams at Watchung Hills Regional HS from 2009-2021 and is excited to be coaching the program again.  During his time coaching at Watchung Hills the program was nationally competitive having had teams attend Easterns, Northeasterns, and Nationals. Our girls program is 9 time NJ state champions. Our boys team has consistently performed against the best teams and finished 2nd at NJ States three times.  He has also coached the DEVYL girls YCC U20 team for 8 years attending YCCs. He is currently involved as the NJ Girls State Competition Director for DEVYL. Outside of coaching, he is also a History teacher and club advisor at WHRHS.
