WORLD LANGUAGES
GROUPING GUIDELINES
1. From level 1 to level 2 (A) ACCELERATED
a) Grade: 90 or higher each marking period
b) Homework: completed, accurate, on time
c) Class Participation: Excellent, attempts to communicate effectively in world language
d) Skill areas: demonstrates progress in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
2. From level 1 to level 2 (CP) COLLEGE PREP
a) Grade: 70 or higher each marking period
b) Homework: completed, on time, effort is observed
c) Class Participation: average to good participation in class
d) Skill areas: is able to prepare for sequential work, may need extra support
3. To remain in an ACCELERATED grouping:
a) Grade: 85 or higher each marking period
b) Homework: completed, accurate, on time
c) Class Participation: Frequent and consistent effort to communicate in world language
d) Skill areas: demonstrates continued progressv in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
4. Change in grouping: ACCELERATED to COLLEGE PREP
a) Grade: 70— 84 range average for the year, may demonstrate an inconsistent performance
b) Homework: incomplete, not accurate, not prepared in a timely manner
c) Class Participation: inconsistent, needs to put more effort into effective communication in world language
d) Skill areas: needs to improve in all areas
5. Change in grouping: COLLEGE PREP to ACCELERATED
a) Grade: 90 or higher each marking period
b) Homework: completed, accurate on time
c) Class Participation: Excellent participation with maximum effort to communicate effectively in world language
d) Skills areas: Excels in all areas
e) Teacher recommendation
f) Students must assume the responsibility to cover the material that was not covered in the college prep curriculum
6. AP/H groupings:
a) Grade: demonstrates superior consistency in performance: (90-100)
b) Homework: Quality work that is complete and on time
c) Class participation: Superior participation that leads to student inquiry in subject area
d) Skill areas: Excels in all areas
