Physical Education/Health
General Information
The Physical Education program is committed to the school vision of developing critical and creative thinkers who collaborate and communicate effectively to solve academic and real-world problems. Students are provided physical education and Health experiences which meet their needs and serve as a basis for future growth and effective decision-making in the areas of fine motor skills, wellness fitness, and interpersonal skills.
The students at WHRHS will be introduced to the following activities over the course of 4 years during the corresponding grade levels:
Grades 9 & 11: Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Golf, Lacrosse, Pickleball, Recreational Games, Soccer, Team Handball, Yoga, and Zumba.
Grades 10 & 12: Adventure Education, Floor Hockey, Flag Football, Judo, Powerwalking, Strength and Fitness, Tennis, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball.

The Health curriculum is designed to provide educational experiences and learning opportunities that are intended to motivate students to lead a healthy well-balanced lifestyle through an understanding of wellness, positive relationships, sexuality, proper drug use and life management skills.
The students at WHRHS will be introduced to the following topics over the course of 4 years during the corresponding grade levels:
Grade 9: Freshman High School Experience / Risk Avoidance Education, Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying, Human Sexuality, Interpersonal Communication, Mental Illness and Substance Abuse.
Grade 10: Drinking, Drugs and Driving, Driver Privileges and Penalties, Drivers License System and the Highway Transportation System, Responsible Driving and Roads Signs and Driver Safety.
Grade 11: Diseases, Disorders, Illnesses, Fitness, Interpersonal Communication, Nutrition, Stress and Anxiety and Wellness.
Grade 12: Interpersonal Communication, Teaching Resilience, Adulthood, Relationships, Sexuality.
