Summer Reading 2023
The summer reading books listed below are a compilation of titles that English teachers suggested over the course of the year. These books speak to the wide range of perspectives and talents of our school community. We hope you find books on this list that engage you, whether you read one or all nine. As you review the list, choose books that you think will involve you in a good conversation. This link may help you decide. It includes excerpts from published reviews.
As always, we want you to read actively. Write down your favorite passages - those you find memorable and those that raise questions for you - and remember to do your part in September to keep the conversation going as you interact with your new teachers and peers at WHRHS.
Please see grade and course level guidelines for summer reading below. In-class written assessments of summer reading will take place during the first weeks of class and will count as part of the first semester grade. For audio versions of these books, download the Libby app and use your valid local library card number to borrow audio files.
