1:1 Initiative

Overview

Watchung Hills Regional High School has implemented a 1:1 initiative that benefits both teacher and student classroom experiences. This program will help students go beyond the standards of digital citizenship and become creative and problem-solving digital leaders. Students will be able to access information anywhere there is a internet connection at anytime.

All classes will participate in the 1:1 initiative for the 2023-2024 school year. The Class of 2027 will receive an Acer Spin 512 Chromebook prior to the start of the school year.

As these devices are district owned, the district has the ability to manage and maintain these devices. Students will keep the same laptop each year including the summer breaks. Refer to the protection plan section with any concerns/questions in regards to damages and repairs. It is required that students return any district-owned devices with AC adapter upon graduation or unenrollment.

Both parents/guardians and students are required to sign/acknowledge the Technology Agreement and 1:1 Acceptable Usage Acknowledgement located in the Genesis portal before any equipment is distributed. If both parties do not sign/acknowledge these forms, both accounts may be restricted to see any other information. Please visit the Parent/Student Portal section of the website for directions.

Distribution to the Class of 2027

Both parents/guardians and students are required to sign/acknowledge the Technology Agreement and 1:1 Acceptable Usage Acknowledgement online in the Genesis portal before any equipment is distributed to the student. Failure of one or both parties to do so will result in the student not receiving their Chromebook.

We will NOT collect any payments for the Chromebook Protection plan during distribution. Paying online is the preferred method of payment for the Annual Chromebook Protection Plan (ACPP). For more information about the ACPP, please visit out "Protection Plan" page on our website.

It is highly recommended to pick up your Chromebook as soon as they are available. Classes may require students to have their 1:1 device on the first day of school.

Students are not permitted to leave class for technical support issues or transport any technology equipment throughout the school besides 1:1 devices.
