Please look at chapter seven on the Chang Online Learning Center. Go through the Essential Study Partner . This site is full of useful information and videos. Students often neglect this valuable and entertaining resource. Give it some attention.

Welcome to Chemistry H. Chemistry is the study of matter and how it interacts with other matter. Over the course of this year you will develop a range of skills that will hopefully provide you with the ability to think critically about chemistry. The first step on your journey involves developing your ability to treat units as scientific variables. Other aspects of this chapter serve as an introduction to some conceptual matter.

Some words of advice:

• When there is a pretest, download it ASAP and do it. If you wait until the night befor a test to attempt it you will be cramming and your long term success will be in joepardy.
• Ask questions. I will always attempt to clarify you misunderstandings. If you do not understand something, then others probably ave the same question so please ASK.
• Do a little each night. This holds true especially when it comes to doing WebAssign assignments. Waiting until the las minute creates a huge amount of stress for you and your family.
• Read ahead. Former students who read ahead have told me that reading ahead helped them immensely. You can ask more intelligent questions if you read ahead. Chemistry will come easy to very few students. It takes a lot of self discipline, but reading ahead will make your life easier.
• Keep things in perspective. Although your grade in this class is very important to you presently, it will probably mean very little to you a year or two from now. Do your best. That is all anyone can ask from you.
• I am on your side. Please come to me with any concerns. I will help you as much as possible.
