Advanced Placement European History 2008 Summer Assignment

To prepare yourself for the upcoming year in European History, it would be to your benefit to complete the following assignment by the first day of school in September.

Reading:
Paul Kennedy’s The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers (Chapter 1)

Each of you is to read the book and complete the questions and charts that go with it. You can order the books from Amazon.com for under $10.00. Over the summer you are only required to read chapter 1, however this book will be used consistently throughout this course.

Writing Assignment:

Complete the questions and two charts below. This will help you understand the content of the book you are reading.

Assessment:

You will be tested on your understanding of Kennedy during the first week of school. If you are having trouble understanding the book, I suggest you discuss the information with each other, and come to school with any questions you may have so that we my dive right into a discussion.
