InfoAbout
The health education curriculum reflects the many changes in the world and the fact that schools have assumed much of the responsibility for community health promotion. Students are encouraged to understand and develop their own values and opinions based on experiences generated by the home, school, and community. Emphasis is placed on self-esteem and self-respect, individual responsibility and respect for others. The overriding goal of our health education is to enable students to develop the skills, strategies, attitudes, and knowledge that allow them to lead active, healthy lives.
The physical education curriculum is designed to provide experiences with respect to individual and team sports, lifetime activities, and Adventure Education Initiatives.
Physical Education is a planned sequence of learning experiences intended to fulfill the growth, development and behavioral needs of each student. The activities are divided by means of grade level, skill level, and some student choice. Freshmen and sophomore years are devoted to required core activities. The junior and senior years focus on electives. The program is based on the concept that skills are taught in the first two years, and wellness issues identifying individual activity interests and personal goals occupy the final two years.
