Practices and home meets: Start at 3:15 and end at 4:45 (all swimmers required to take the bus to and from practices and meets)
Communication: shutterfly account (https://whrhsswimteam.shutterfly.com); Coach Roth: email@example.com; Coach Pinto: firstname.lastname@example.org
Prospective new swimmers: Please fill out the following form (by Nov. 1st) so that we have your contact information on file--
Selecting the team: We try to give as many swimmers as possible the opportunity to participate on the swim team. However, because of limited pool space, we cannot necessarily take all swimmers who tryout. In order to be strongly considered for the team you will need some fundamental skills including the ability to: complete all four strokes legally, complete flip turns, and dive from the blocks. Generally we keep about 25 male swimmers and 30 female swimmers. Not all swimmers will be considered varsity, though everyone (boys, girls, varsity, and JV) practices together and goes to the same meets.
Tryouts: The first 3-4 days of practice will be considered the try out period. On the first day, swimmers will swim an easy practice that focuses on stroke technique. The next 2-3 days are considered time trials, where each swimmer will complete some timed events including the 50 free, 100s of the strokes, and potentially an Individual Medley. Each swimmer will be notified at the end of the 3rd or 4th day whether or not they made the team.
UPDATES: Tryouts for the 2016-17 season will begin November 7th. Please make sure that your required paperwork is completed by and submitted to the nurse's office no later than October 15th so that it can be processed in a timely manner.
